elim mission / highland update

Greetings Elim / Highland Family,

In light of the most recent guidelines regarding community health precautions, we will not be meeting for worship this Sunday, March 22nd and we are suspending all large gatherings of our congregation for the immediate future.  Instead, we will have a video of our messages that will be recorded each week and available for you to access by Sunday morning on your own schedule.  We hope to be able to make these messages available earlier as we work out the details.  Dean Engebretson will be bringing the Word of God to us each week at least through Easter. There will be more information contained in the video this Sunday regarding our worship services moving forward.  Our large gatherings will resume when the current health guidelines are revised.

I am writing this message with more than touch of sadness.  This coming Sunday was to be our last worship service in the building that has been our home for more than 100 years. Last Sunday we had a chance to hear from several of our family on memories made in the Elim building.  You may have been saving your final farewell for our next service, and now that opportunity is not to be.  It feels a bit like being unexpectedly pushed off the high diving board before being ready.

The message from Dean this Sunday will be recorded from the Elim pulpit, in honor of the last Sunday those walls will hear the Gospel preached among the Elim family. It is a sincere, but inadequate, recognition of the faithfulness of God that has been witnessed by the Elim family over the years. To honor those memories I am also inviting anyone who would like to share a short remembrance of your time at Elim or testimony of God’s faithfulness to put it in writing.  You can send them to the Highland Community Church office by email or in person.  These will be recorded in a way that will be accessible to our church family as a testimony of God in our lives.

Leaving one place also means arriving at another.  While we may not be having worship services or large gatherings at the new Highland Community Church location in the immediate future, the new building will begin to be a center for ministry as we plan for how we can stay connected during these unusual times. Look for more communication as we move forward as Highland Community Church. Below are links to the recorded messages.  If you would like assistance accessing these message you can call the church office at 320-286-2662 and leave a message. Julie is checking for messages and will return your call.

He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.  On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah

Psalm 62:6-8
